Geet
This wasn't my first Volkswagen but its my first brand-new Volkswagen. Before the GTI, I'd owned a 1971 Super Beetle, a 1981 Scirocco, and a 1993 Quantum Wagon. Each one reinforced my appreciation for Volkswagen's ability to build cars with real character, but every one of them had been purchased used. When Volkswagen introduced the all-new Mk6 GTI for 2010, I knew this was the one I wanted. It represented everything I loved about the GTI lineage while bringing a more refined interior, improved technology, and everyday usability. Life had changed by then. I had a young family, so four doors were non-negotiable. My wife also didn't drive a manual transmission, making the DSG dual-clutch automatic the practical choice. Even so, the enthusiast in me still wonders what life with the six-speed manual would have been like. On January 7, 2010, I took delivery of my Tornado Red Mk6 GTI from Minuteman Volkswagen in Bedford, Massachusetts. It was the perfect blend of family practicality and German hot hatch performance.
