I am the third owner of this 1987 Porsche 924S, a car with a well-documented history and a story that spans nearly four decades. I purchased it in Connecticut from an Italian-American enthusiast whose collection included several classic automobiles. He had cared for the car as part of his collection, and its history was remarkably complete. The 924S was originally delivered new by Intercar Inc. Porsche in Newton, New Jersey, where its first chapter began. It has remained a Northeast car throughout its life, with extensive documentation that traces its ownership, maintenance, and preservation over the years.
Favorite Feature
There are faster cars, more powerful cars, and certainly more expensive Porsches—but the 924S has a character all its own. It's Rare You simply don't see many 1987 Porsche 924S models on the road anymore. It represents a unique chapter in Porsche history, combining the balanced transaxle platform with the heart of the early 944, making it one of the brand's most underrated driver's cars. The Removable Targa Roof Few things compare to driving with the roof panel removed. It delivers the open-air experience of a convertible while preserving the clean, timeless lines and structural rigidity that make the 924S so enjoyable to drive. Despite being nearly 40 years old, the handling is exceptional. The near-perfect weight distribution, precise steering, and confidence-inspiring chassis make every winding road a blast. It's a car that encourages you to drive and not just admire it.
Best memory
One of my favorite memories with the 924S was an unforgettable road trip from Boston to Ashburn, Virginia. The car never missed a beat, proving that even after nearly four decades, it was built to be driven. Once in Northern Virginia, I spent three days exploring the beautiful back roads of Loudoun Wine County with friends, each behind the wheel of their own classic car. We cruised through rolling horse country, small historic towns, and scenic winding roads that seemed made for vintage sports cars and vineyards.
Events attended
The highlight of the trip was taking the Porsche to the legendary Katie's Cars & Coffee, where enthusiasts gather before sunrise to celebrate everything automotive. Seeing the 924S among an incredible collection of classics, exotics, and modern performance cars was a reminder that great cars aren't defined by their price—they're defined by the stories they create and the people they bring together.
